Ancient Food Futures
Weaving traditional ecological knowledge with western scientific knowledge for socioecological resilience
This is a developing body of work for my Master’s thesis at Harvard. I am working together with my colleagues Jon & Jenn, along with 10+ indigenous food systems experts, to create a platform that enables the preservation and sharing of indigenous knowledge for food production. This platform will be tribally owned and governed. We are currently also looking at various low-cost, low-tech sensor tools for greater autonomy in measuring environment health (e.g., soil, carbon, water, biodiversity)
* All material and research is done by us unless stated otherwise. If you would like to use any part of this research and material, or to collaborate with us, please reach out to conniewang@mde.harvard.edu
Thank you!

Early unvalidated proposition and key screens - To be tested in Spring 2023

Toggle between several different open-source data layers for high-level understanding of the state of land stewardship within and beyond one's tribal context. Includes soil assessment, tribal territories, and land cover/ crop type

Assess the aggregated data of various crops throughout a tribal community. Each tribe has full control of what knowledge is shared and at what scale.

See an overview of a specific farm or collection of farms based on your tribe's needs.

See both observational information and SEK data in one place. This is where our sensor tools might plug-in and display data as well.

Foster relationships and reconnect across generations and tribes. Use this platform to open lines of communication and establish new communities
